SUMMARY:DIRTY SAUCE: Intimacy\, Venerability\, and the Pastoral
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, January 13\, 2024\, at 7 pm\, SomoS presents DIRTY SAUCE: Intimacy\, Venurnability\, and the Pastoral. \nAn evening of poetic exploration and stimulating discourse featuring the distinguished talents of Kaycee Hill\, Daisy Nikoloska\, and Heyd Fontenot. \nThe event commences with a poetry reading by Kaycee Hill from her critically acclaimed collection\, Hot Sauce. This will be followed by a panel discussion\, delving into themes of intimacy\, vulnerability\, and the pastoral\, resonating with the undertones of both Hill’s poetry and Fontenot’s art\, set against the enriching backdrop of his solo exhibition When I Think about a Minotaur. \nThe evening spotlights Kaycee Hill\, a Bristol-based poet renowned for her incisive observations of urban life. As a recipient of the James Berry Poetry Prize and a mentee of Malika Booker\, Hill’s work navigates the complexities of inner-city existence with astute lyrical prowess. Her distinct voice has earned accolades across prestigious platforms\, including The Poetry Review and The Poetry Society\, manifesting a profound understanding of contemporary societal dynamics. \nJoining Hill in the panel discussion as moderator is Daisy Nikoloska\, a writer\, curator\, and mixed-media artist straddling the realms of rural southwest England and Berlin’s digital landscape. Known online as Hitachi Blonde\, Nikoloska’s work intriguingly juxtaposes the sensuous and the technological. Her academic background in Art History\, Visual Culture\, and English\, combined with her ongoing pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Anglophone Modernities\, equips her with a unique perspective that will enrich the evening’s discourse. \nThe dialogue is further augmented by the insights of Heyd Fontenot\, a multidisciplinary artist whose journey has traversed numerous artistic terrains. Fontenot’s experience as an experimental filmmaker\, designer\, and curator\, alongside his leadership roles at prestigious art residencies\, imparts a holistic understanding of the art world’s various facets. His empathetic and humorous portrayal of the human form in his artwork offers a critical lens through which to view and discuss intimacy and the nude body within the realms of sexuality\, contemporary art and culture. This event promises to be an enlightening fusion of literature and art\, poetry and discourse\, inviting audience engagement in a vibrant\, intellectual exchange. Attendance is free\, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming art and literature enthusiasts and the curious alike to this unique evening at SomoS. \nDirty Sauce – Poetry Reading & Panel Discussion Kaycee Hill\, Daisy Nikoloska & Heyd Fontenot Saturday\, January 13\, 2024\, at 7 pm \nLocation: SomoS – Kottbusser Damm 95\, 1.0G\, 10967\, Berlin \nPublic transport: U8 – Schönleinstraße \nEntry\, as always\, free \n
