The last night belongs to sound. A live sound performance fills the room, and an interpretive dance moves inside it — not in front of the audio but within it, answering what it hears. The plates, the targets, the water stay where they are and are heard differently. It happens fast and then it's over

Closer Than You Think

I can make out nothing
and I don’t have a gun
but they can’t hit me.

The lines above are from the recording that plays in the room. They are the closest thing to a statement the artist is willing to make. What follows was written by a machine, from notes.

A wall of 144 disposable plates spells KONSUME and PRODUCE across one shared O, with a few in the middle asking why!? Behind them, red rings on white, borrowed from a shooting range. Behind those, the sound: a voice, a gong ceremony, a nightingale. Facing all of it, projections and a meditating monk. In the middle of the room, a bathtub of clear water that does not stay clear.

The show moves from morning to night, from rot to fresh start and back around. The stages of grief are distributed among the objects. Which is which has not been disclosed, and the omission is not an oversight.

Story:

Founded in 2025, the project space „almost there“—located at Gubener Str. 23 in Berlin-Friedrichshain—is part of the studio community of the same name in the adjacent rooms and is run by Sebastian Klug.

The space hosts regular exhibitions spanning a broad spectrum of media, providing both local and international artists with a platform for presentation and networking.

Angaben zur Lage:
Measuring 6×6 meters, the former retail space features two large street-facing display windows. Original elements—such as a partially gilded suspended ceiling with chandeliers alongside rough, exposed walls—give the space a unique character with which the exhibited works engage.
