I Think My Body No Longer Belongs to Me

For Berlin Art Week, roam projects e. V. presents a collaborative group exhibition with Tallinn-based Tütar Gallery, building on its long-standing commitment to strengthening transnational connections and fostering artistic and cultural exchange between Estonia and Germany. I Think My Body No Longer Belongs to Me asks: to what extent does the body actually belong to the person themselves?
At the center of a complex economy of attention, hypercapitalism, and geopolitical struggles, the body is exposed to political, biological, and digital regimes that affect and exhaust it in different ways. From biopolitical control in wartime and reproductive and sexual expectations to digital fragmentation and the persistent pressure of “longevity,” the exhibition explores how bodies become sites of ownership, control, exchange, and transformation.
The exhibition opens with Body Shares, a performance by Pire Sova and Netti Nüganen. Using their bodies to create prints, the artists offer the resulting works as shares in a spontaneous auction that mimics livestock auctions—questioning what happens when the body and its representations are interpreted in terms of ownership, exchange, and circulation.
