Nasarimba is the Calgary-based artist duo of Rachel Ziriada and Mikhail Miller. Since 2015, they have worked across painting, screen printing, assemblage, installation, public intervention, and large-scale mural painting. Their exhibitions, residencies, and commissioned projects have taken them across Canada, Mexico, and Europe. During their SomoS residency, the duo used Berlin’s streets as both a research field and material source, archiving surfaces, textures, and architecture. This Berlin stop is part of a three-month European tour, after which they will continue to Milan and Portugal to apply ideas developed in Berlin.
Their city archiving of Berlin has been translated through their studio work in a series of compositions, drawings, paintings, and even murals. This process will culminate with an Artist Talk at their residency space in SomoS Arts, where they will present their developed work, archiving process, and future in murals and screen-printing, bringing visitors into this process. They will walk the audience through selected photographs, working drawings, and finished pieces, showing how their time in Berlin has affected their work, and it will continue to develop during their time in Milan and Portugal.
The Artist Talk will take place on March 31, 2026, from 19:00 until 21:00h at SomoS Arts Gallery space in Berlin. Your host for the evening is SomoS’ founder and Senior Curator, Paulus Fugers. The event is free and open to the public.
Nasarimba’s artist residency at SomoS was supported by Calgary Arts Development.
