Lucie Planty’s solo exhibition press photographs presents a new work created from recent pixelated press images, sourced from various newspapers around the world. The original photographs, as published, were pixelated by editorial teams to obscure explicit details related to war, violence, or censored elements. This work questions the paradox maintained by the media between revealing violence and concealing it. These press images are reused as-is, preserving only the pixelated fragments. These blurred zones become the visual abstractions of documents deliberately rendered unreadable, while also contributing to a staging of violence.

Lucie Planty was born in France in 1990. She graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2016 with honors. Her practice revolves around the collection of images, often presented in the form of books, participatory installations, or videos, exploring the appearance and disappearance of historical and memorial materials. Her work has been exhibited notably in Belgium (Botanique), China (Bazaar Compatible Program), Colombia (MAC), Czech Republic (Moravian Gallery), Ecuador (Itchimbía Cultural Center), Italy (The Other Art Fair), Singapore (INSTINC), and France (Fondation Ricard, Cité des Arts, Jeune Création, Galerie Michel Journiac, Salon de Montrouge…).
