I create Reality

I Create Reality. Hannah Fee Kreuzer, CITPELO, MagLau.
Three words, three photographers, three different takes on reality, with a twist of darkness.
The exhibition, set to be between the 11th and the 31st of August, sometimes gets painful.

Spread over two galleries for a collaboration, I create Reality shifts you from one world to another.

In Galerie Zeitzone (Adalbertstrasse 79 10997 Berlin Kreuzberg), are presented Hannah Fee Kreuzer, the photographer focusing on self-portrait, and MagLau, the investigator of the world of BDSM.
Hannah Fee Kreuzer is the youngest artist, embodying the I of the exhibition, exploring herself through her own portraits. The staging of each photograph is fast, as she only uses the old-fashioned way of her camera’s timer to take her pictures. In the exhibition, she addresses her concerns towards women’s issues with her body, with for example a work on eating disorders. Her « Frankenstein » picture, where she covered her face with clay, evokes one’s deception when facing a mirror. She also uses bondage, handcuffs, cages and other instruments of torture to show the cruelty one can have when facing its own self.
MagLau’s work shows us as well some of these instruments, but in a completely different, and more crowded context : the secret world of BDSM parties. The acronym itself (which stands for Bondage Discipline and Sado-Masochism) instills already some mystery in the minds of the uninitiated. A veil of secret that MagLau lifts up for the eyes of the viewers. It is sometimes done with finesse and tenderness, as the pictures of couples embracing show, sometimes with humour, managing to connect a latex ass to a leather mask. The harshness the BDSM milieu has can be seen throughout the whole exhibition, but MagLau manages to make us see from another perspective.
Cross the street to meet CITPELO in his own gallery (CITPELO Gallery, Waldemarstrasse 41 10999 Berlin Kreuzberg). He is the creator as he is the one who uses the most different photographic and non-photographic tools to create his photos. One of the most noticeable is the photographer’s handmade cage creations, that he places on his model’s face. The models always seem either to struggle to escape these cages, either to accept their fate.
